Live action adaptations of superheroes have come a long ways; what special effects are capable of rendering, what stories and mythologies studios are willing to explore, there’s been a lot of improvements over time. But it still feels like adaptations continue to make huge missteps. For every Avengers, there’s a Fan4stic; for every Logan, there’s an X-Men: Apocalypse. What do you have to do to get it right?

The CW recently had two episodes of their DC shows in the same week that I thought served as an excellent back to back example of how to do it right and how to do it wrong. So I wrote an article about that over on Kulture Shocked. This was a little late in getting posted, so the episodes are several behind, but there hasn’t really been anything since to counteract the points made, so, here you go.
